Whether you need a PhotonOdds alternative comes down to one question: do you bet a board of soft-book signals, or Pinnacle's own moves? If you want EV+, arbitrage, middles and dropping-odds signals across many soft bookmakers for €24 to €69 a month, PhotonOdds already covers that, pre-match only, in four sports. If you bet the moment Pinnacle itself moves, Pinnacle Terminal (€89 a month) is the closer fit: it grades each pre-match Pinnacle move from 0 to 10 across 13 sports, shows in-play football drops as they happen and pushes the ones your rules keep to a private Telegram bot.
Put simply, PhotonOdds rates many bookmakers' prices against a fair line and flags steam among them, while Pinnacle Terminal watches a single book, Pinnacle, and names the type of each price change. Below, PhotonOdds is described only from its own pages; our product from what it does today.
Disclosure: this is the Pinnacle Terminal blog. Definition. PhotonOdds is a pre-match sports-betting analytics service run by SB Software & Automation (Netherlands). It collects bookmaker odds, removes the margin to get a fair price and shows five signal types on one board: EV+, dropping odds (steam), arbitrage, odds comparison and middles. It also sells the same data through an Odds API. It does not take bets.
What does PhotonOdds offer?
On 31/10/2026 photonodds.com described:
- Five signal types on one board. EV+ ("fair value vs book price"), Dropping Odds ("price movement over time"), Arbitrage, Odds Comparison and Middles.
- Bookmaker coverage. The home page and /bookmakers say 160 bookmakers (123 brands, 27 countries), typed sharp or soft; the directory lists two sharp books: Pinnacle and Bet105. The /pricing and /about pages say "50+ bookmakers monitored". We report both numbers because both are on its site.
- Sports. The home page lists soccer, American football, basketball, tennis and ice hockey, and its stats block says "4 sports covered". The dropping-odds page says: "Coverage is pre-match only, across football, basketball, tennis and ice hockey. There is no in-play product."
- How it tracks a drop. For every drop it keeps "the opening price the move started from, the lowest point it has reached, and the price on screen right now". A drop that gives back "a meaningful share of the move" is marked rebounding; one that returns to the opening price is retired. "Liquidity and limit changes are tracked alongside the price."
- Speed, stated as a target. "<1s target move to alert" on the home page; "signals update in seconds, not minutes" on /pricing.
- Fair price. Its de-vig calculator uses "proportional normalisation", which it calls "the same … method we use before scoring any line". That is the multiplicative method.
- Alerts. Its Learn guides explain how to route EV+ and dropping-odds alerts to your own Telegram bot (you create it with BotFather) or to a Discord webhook.
- Odds API. REST plus WebSocket push, fair odds and arbitrage as response fields, "<500ms latency" and 7,500 requests an hour on paid plans.
- Free calculators. De-vig, EV, Kelly and arbitrage.

Why look for a PhotonOdds alternative?
PhotonOdds is cheap and broad. People who mainly bet Pinnacle moves look elsewhere for four reasons, all from its own pages:
- No in-play. It says so plainly: pre-match only, no live product.
- Four sports. Football, basketball, tennis and ice hockey. No esports, no MMA, no player props on the pages we read.
- A drop is a size and a state. Its model reads opening, low and current price, and marks rebounds. The pages we read do not describe a grade or a label that tells you whether Pinnacle closed the market or raised its limit during the move.
- Pinnacle is one book among 160. That is a strength for line shopping. If you want the Pinnacle price, its limit and the fair price on one line, a board of 160 books is more than you need.

When is PhotonOdds the better choice?
- You want arbitrage or middles. Pinnacle Terminal does neither.
- You line-shop across many soft books. A board that scores 160 bookmakers against a fair price answers "where is the best price" directly.
- You only need one signal. The Dropping Odds plan at €24 a month is the cheapest way into its board.
- You want to look before you pay. The free tier shows signals on a 45-minute delay with no card. Use it to learn how drops behave, not to bet them: by then most prices have moved.
- You build your own models. Its Odds API returns fair odds and arbitrage fields.
When is Pinnacle Terminal the better choice?
- You want each Pinnacle move graded, not only measured. Every pre-match move gets a 0–10 grade and a label: Big move (the odds dropped and Pinnacle closed the market), Sharp drop (about 20% or more below the recent high), Limit-backed (the odds dropped and Pinnacle raised the limit, a very confident move), Downtrend, Rebound (the odds returning towards the opener) and Standard. See understanding move grades.
- You bet live football. Live in-play drops are shown as they happen, filtered by goal and score context. They are not graded.
- You bet basketball lines. The Basketball lines tab catches 3-point jumps in a main spread or total in under 2 minutes, with a lock icon when Pinnacle has moved the line but does not offer the market yet. More in NBA line movement.
- You bet more than four sports. MMA/UFC, esports (CS2, LoL, Dota, Valorant), player props and minor leagues are covered.
- You want a choice of devig. Power by default, with multiplicative, additive, Shin and worst case one click away; compare them in the devig calculator.
- You want your CLV measured. The CLV tracker scores every logged bet against Pinnacle's close.
A real example: a drop where the market closed
From Pinnacle Terminal on 28 October 2026, Madrid time (CET). Armenian Cup, Lernayin Artsakh v Shirak, kick-off 12:00. Market: Shirak team total, over 2.5 goals.
- At about 09:35 Pinnacle's price fell from 2.44 to 1.952: 1 − 1.952 ÷ 2.44 = 20.0%.
- Then Pinnacle took the market down. The terminal labelled the move Big move with the lock icon, and the line read 2.44 → 1.952 → x: no price on offer.
- The fair price shown next to the alert was 2.135. Kick-off was about two and a half hours away.
A drop model built on opening, low and current price would record a 20% drop here. What it needs to add is the lock: Pinnacle stopped taking bets at 1.952 to reprice. A bookmaker still quoting 2.44 was offering a price Pinnacle itself had withdrawn. Anything above 2.135 was above Pinnacle's fair line at that moment; check that the market rules match at your bookmaker before you bet. The full case is in Pinnacle closed markets. Run your own numbers in the odds drop calculator and the EV calculator.
Is PhotonOdds worth it?
As a cheap way to see pre-match EV+ and steam across many books, it is easy to test: the free tier costs nothing and the paid trial is 7 days. It is not a fit if you need in-play, sports outside its four, or a tracker. If Pinnacle's moves are your signal, run both for a week on the same matches. Count how many alerts you could still place above the fair price at your own bookmakers, then judge the bets with closing line value and the CLV calculator. Other drop tools are compared in best dropping odds software, and value scanners in best value betting software.
How Pinnacle Terminal handles this
PhotonOdds scores many bookmakers' prices against a fair line and flags steam across them; Pinnacle Terminal reads one book, Pinnacle, and says what kind of move each change was. A pre-match move gets a 0–10 grade and a label (Big move when the odds drop and Pinnacle closes the market, Sharp drop at roughly 20% or more below the recent high, Limit-backed when the odds drop and the limit rises), measured over a 2-minute window by default that you can change. Where PhotonOdds stays pre-match in four sports, the terminal covers 13 sports and adds live in-play football drops, shown live and filtered but not graded, plus a Basketball lines tab for 3-point jumps in under 2 minutes. Alerts go to a private Telegram bot set by your own filters, and the fair price on each line uses Power devig by default. It has no arbitrage or middles board, no API and no stored line history. See it on Pinnacle dropping odds.
