Premier League Dropping Odds – How EPL Prices Move

Premier League dropping odds explained: when EPL prices open, why early margins distort drops, how to spot broken tracker data, and this week's Pinnacle moves.

Premier League dropping odds are prices on EPL matches that shorten between the opening line and kick-off, such as Liverpool at Crystal Palace falling from 1.78 to 1.61 at Pinnacle in the week after the price opened. Premier League prices open one to four weeks early with a margin of 4–9%, against about 2.5% on match day, so remove the margin before you read any drop. And check the data: on 1 November 2026, four of the eight Premier League matches on one public Pinnacle drop list had at least one snapshot whose three prices added up to more than 120%.

Premier League main lines are among the deepest football markets, and their prices behave accordingly. Moves are smaller than in lower leagues and arrive with more money behind them. This guide covers when EPL prices open and move, the two traps that make raw drops misleading (the opening margin and broken snapshots), this week's moves and how to read them. For football in general, see football dropping odds; for the European nights in between, Champions League dropping odds; for Spain, La Liga dropping odds.

Definition. A Premier League dropping odd is a pre-match price on an English Premier League match (1X2, Asian handicap or total) that is shorter now than at an earlier reference point, usually the opening price. Measure it in fair implied probability: remove the bookmaker's margin from both prices, then compare.

When do Premier League odds open?

Between about two and four weeks before kick-off. The public Pinnacle tracker SteamWatch recorded its first snapshots for most of the 7–8 November 2026 fixtures on the evening of 25 October (UTC), about 13 days ahead. Liverpool v Manchester United on 22 November was first recorded at 21:22 UTC on 25 October, about 28 days ahead, and Liverpool v Arsenal (1 November) at 03:47 UTC on 18 October, 14 days ahead (match pages read 1 November 2026). Release patterns across leagues are compared in when do odds open.

From opening to kick-off, an EPL price usually passes through four stages:

  1. Opening correction. The first price is set on little money and moves towards the market's view in the first days.
  2. The midweek between rounds. European matches, cup ties and injuries in them change the picture for the weekend.
  3. Press conferences. Managers speak one or two days before the match; confirmed absences move prices.
  4. The last hour. Line-ups are published about an hour before kick-off and the heaviest money arrives. This is where the closing line forms.

Why do raw Premier League drops mislead?

For two reasons, and both are visible in public data from 1 November 2026.

The opening margin is wide

Early EPL prices carry a margin several times larger than on match day. SteamWatch's Pinnacle 1X2 prices, open and current, read 1 November 2026 at about 16:40 Madrid time (CET), with the margin and fair price calculated by us (power method):

Match (kick-off)SelectionRaw price, open → nowMargin, open → nowFair price, open → nowFair probability change
Crystal Palace v Liverpool (8 Nov)Liverpool1.78 → 1.616.50% → 5.42%1.849 → 1.656+6.3 pts
Fulham v Newcastle United (7 Nov)Fulham2.38 → 2.134.40% → 4.98%2.467 → 2.208+4.8 pts
Sunderland v Chelsea (8 Nov)Chelsea2.10 → 2.048.69% → 5.00%2.235 → 2.112+2.6 pts
Arsenal v Hull City (7 Nov)Arsenal1.14 → 1.146.57% → 5.85%1.160 → 1.158+0.1 pts

Chelsea is the clearest case. The raw price moved from 2.10 to 2.04, a change of 1.4 implied-probability points. With the margin removed, Chelsea's fair chance rose from about 44.7% to 47.3%, nearly twice as much, because the margin fell from about 8.7% to 5.0% at the same time. For comparison, the same source's prices for Liverpool v Arsenal at 15:36 UTC on match day, under an hour before kick-off (3.14 / 3.47 / 2.39), carry a margin of about 2.5%.

The rule: never compare a raw opening EPL price with a raw current one. Devig both with the devig calculator (Power is the default method in Pinnacle Terminal) and compare fair probabilities, as the odds drop calculator does in points.

Some snapshots are broken

Add up the implied probabilities of the three 1X2 prices before you trust a drop. A Pinnacle 1X2 market on a Premier League match does not carry a 20% margin, so a snapshot that adds up to 120% or more is a data error, not a market.

MatchSnapshotPrices (home / draw / away)Sum of implied probabilities
Liverpool v Manchester UnitedOpen and now1.68 / 3.20 / 3.25 and 1.54 / 3.75 / 3.35121.5% and 121.5%
Liverpool v ArsenalOpen3.00 / 2.06 / 2.00131.9%
Nottingham Forest v Manchester CityOpen2.40 / 3.90 / 1.60129.8%
Manchester United v Aston VillaOpen2.28 / 2.50 / 1.97134.6%

SteamWatch match pages, read 1 November 2026; sums calculated by us. The current prices of the last three matches add up to 102.5–105.5%, which is plausible.

The consequences are real. Liverpool v Manchester United headed SteamWatch's whole "biggest drops in the last 48 hours" list that afternoon, with Liverpool from 1.72 to 1.54 (+6.8 points). Yet the same page's current prices add up to about 121%, and an average of three or more US sportsbooks on MoneyLine had Liverpool at −136 (about 1.74) at the same time. We cannot tell from outside which price is wrong, so we discard the row. Likewise, "Nottingham Forest drifted from 2.40 to 4.58" and "Aston Villa drifted from 1.97 to 2.89" are artefacts of a broken opening snapshot, not market moves.

This is not a criticism of one tracker. Any tool that stores prices every 15 minutes from a third-party feed will sometimes record a bad one. Free lists are useful for finding matches to look at; check the sum before you act. More on free sources in free dropping odds sites.

Premier League drops this week

SteamWatch's list for the Premier League, rebuilt at 15:41 UTC on 1 November 2026. "From" is the opening price, or the price 48 hours earlier for matches listed before that. Rows with a broken snapshot (see above) are left out.

Match (kick-off, UTC)SelectionFrom → nowImplied change
Crystal Palace v Liverpool (8 Nov, 14:00)Liverpool (1X2)1.71 → 1.61+3.6 pts
Liverpool v Arsenal (1 Nov, 16:30)Over 2.5 goals1.88 → 1.80+2.4 pts
Fulham v Newcastle United (7 Nov, 15:00)Fulham (1X2)2.24 → 2.13+2.3 pts
Sunderland v Chelsea (8 Nov, 14:00)Chelsea (1X2)2.13 → 2.04+2.1 pts
Arsenal v Hull City (7 Nov, 15:00)Over 3.0 goals1.84 → 1.78+1.8 pts

What the list does and does not tell you:

  • The moves are small. The largest clean EPL drop is 3.6 points in 48 hours. In a deep market, that is a real revision.
  • The line matters as much as the price. On Crystal Palace v Liverpool the Asian handicap moved from Palace +0.5 to +0.75; on Arsenal v Hull City the total moved from 3.25 to 3.0 goals. A price on over 3.0 cannot be compared with an opening price on over 3.25. See Asian handicap explained and over/under dropping odds for how each line settles.
  • It does not say why, how fast or with what limit. A 48-hour comparison hides whether the move came in one step after team news or as a slow drift, and whether Pinnacle raised its limit. Those decide whether the drop is still worth anything.

Does following these moves pay by itself? SteamWatch publishes its own record: 354 settled team "steam moves" in 2026/27 (drops of 3 points or more before kick-off), 52.5% won, and a flat stake at each selection's moved price returned −1.5% (read 1 November 2026). Backing a drop after it has happened, at the price it dropped to, is not an edge on that record. The question is whether your bookmaker still offers a price longer than Pinnacle's new fair price.

How do you read a Premier League drop?

Five checks, in order:

  1. Check the snapshot. Add up 100 ÷ each 1X2 price. The clean EPL snapshots in this guide ranged from about 102.5% to 108.7%; far above that, the data is broken.
  2. Devig first. Compare fair prices, especially against an early opener.
  3. Check the whole match. Did the 1X2, the handicap and the total move together? One move across three markets is one piece of information, not three.
  4. Weigh the limit and the timing. A drop with a raised maximum market limit has money behind it; see Pinnacle limits explained. A drop after a press conference usually follows team news; one in the last hour usually follows the line-ups. A suspension after a sending-off also moves the next fixture: see how a red card affects betting odds.
  5. Compare with your bookmaker. An edge exists only if your price is longer than the new fair price.

A worked example with the current Fulham v Newcastle prices (2.13 / 3.63 / 3.28): Fulham's fair price is about 2.208. Two illustrative bookmaker prices, not quotes from a real bookmaker: Fulham at 2.25 would be about +1.9% (2.25 ÷ 2.208 − 1); Fulham at 2.15 would be about −2.6%. Test your own prices with the EV calculator, and judge each bet afterwards against Pinnacle's closing fair price with the CLV calculator. Large UK bookmakers price the Premier League heavily; how one of them follows Pinnacle is covered in bet365 dropping odds.

What about live Premier League drops?

Once the match starts, the clock and the score do most of the moving: a 0-0 at the hour shortens the draw with no money behind it. Pinnacle Terminal covers in-play for football only and shows those live drops filtered by score, recent goals and the minutes after a goal; it does not give them a grade, which is reserved for pre-match moves. How much of a live drop is just time decay is worked through in in-play odds movement; the feature itself is on in-play drops.

How Pinnacle Terminal handles Premier League moves

The terminal reads Pinnacle's own feed over a WebSocket rather than storing 15-minute snapshots, so the Fulham or Liverpool price you see is the one Pinnacle is quoting now, with its current maximum market limit next to it. Each pre-match change on an EPL 1X2, handicap or total gets a 0–10 grade and one label. A Big move means the price fell and Pinnacle took the market down; a Sharp drop is a fall of about 20% or more from the recent high; Limit-backed means the price fell while Pinnacle raised the market limit; a Rebound is a price heading back towards the opener; Downtrend and Standard cover the rest. The default measuring window is 2 minutes and can be changed, which is what separates a press-conference move from a week of drift. Alerts reach your own Telegram bot, filtered to the leagues and bookmakers you use, with the fair price worked out by Power devig unless you choose another method. Nothing is archived: the terminal shows live moves, not an odds history. See Pinnacle dropping odds for the full feature set.

FAQ

What are Premier League dropping odds?

Prices on EPL matches that have shortened since an earlier point, usually the opening line. On 1 November 2026, Pinnacle's price on Liverpool at Crystal Palace (8 November) had fallen from 1.78 at opening to 1.61.

When do Premier League odds come out?

About two to four weeks before kick-off. A public Pinnacle tracker first recorded most 7–8 November 2026 fixtures on 25 October, about 13 days ahead, and Liverpool v Manchester United (22 November) about 28 days ahead.

Why remove the margin before comparing EPL odds?

Early prices carry a wider margin. On Sunderland v Chelsea the 1X2 margin fell from about 8.7% to 5.0%, so Chelsea's raw price moved 1.4 probability points while its fair chance rose about 2.6 points.

How can I tell if a dropping odds list has bad data?

Add up the implied probabilities (100 ÷ price) of the home, draw and away prices. The clean Premier League snapshots we checked on 1 November 2026 totalled about 102.5–108.7%. A total of 120% or more means the snapshot is broken.

Why did Nottingham Forest's price "drift" from 2.40 to 4.58?

It probably did not. The opening snapshot on that public page (2.40 / 3.90 / 1.60) adds up to about 130%, which no Pinnacle 1X2 market carries. The current prices add up to about 105.5%, so the "drift" comes from a broken first record.
