Bundesliga Dropping Odds – How German Football Prices Move

Bundesliga dropping odds explained: prices open two weeks out, two-thirds of the move comes in the last 24 hours, and this week's Pinnacle moves on Frankfurt.

Bundesliga dropping odds are prices on German top-flight matches that shorten between the opening line and kick-off, such as Eintracht Frankfurt away at Paderborn falling from 2.46 to 2.20 at Pinnacle since the price opened on 25 October. Bundesliga prices open about two weeks before kick-off, carry a 6–7% margin for most of that time, and then move late: in last weekend's eight matches, about two-thirds of the pre-match movement came in the final 24 hours. So remove the margin before you read a Bundesliga move, and expect the decisive part of it on the day before the match.

Below: the Bundesliga's pricing calendar, open-to-close numbers from last weekend, the goals and handicap markets that carry most German moves, the 6–8 November round in fair probability, and a worked bookmaker check. The general football picture is in football dropping odds; league-by-league comparisons are in Premier League dropping odds, Serie A dropping odds and Ligue 1 dropping odds.

Definition. Bundesliga dropping odds = a fall in the price of one outcome of a German top-flight match (match result, Asian handicap or goals total) compared with a reference price, normally the opener. A drop only counts once the bookmaker's margin is stripped from both prices: compare fair probabilities, not raw odds.

When do Bundesliga odds open?

About 12 to 14 days before kick-off, in one batch per round. The public Pinnacle tracker SteamWatch first recorded all nine matches of the 6–8 November 2026 round at 20:34 UTC on Sunday 25 October, 12.0 days before Hamburger SV v Borussia Mönchengladbach (Friday) and 13.9 days before TSG Hoffenheim v FC Schalke 04 (Sunday evening). Last weekend's eight matches had opened the same way, a median 12.8 days ahead. Serie A, by comparison, opens about a week out. The full comparison by league is in when do odds open.

What the long window means in practice:

  1. The opening margin is high and comes down in steps. The nine openers carried a 1X2 margin of 6.07% to 7.28%. Within a day they were at 4.9–6.5%, and they stayed there for a week. Then, in the snapshot of 05:23 UTC on Monday 2 November, eight of the nine markets took their largest single margin cut, and by 17:32 UTC all nine sat at 2.99–4.06%. In that one snapshot, 26 of the 27 match-result prices lengthened, without any money behind them.
  2. European midweeks sit inside the window. On SteamWatch's fixture list, Stuttgart play Galatasaray and Bayern Munich play Atlético Madrid in the Champions League on 3 November; Dortmund play Real Betis and RB Leipzig play Manchester City on 4 November; Leverkusen and Hoffenheim (Europa League) and Freiburg (Conference League) play on 5 November. All seven are in action again on 7–8 November. Rotation and injury news from midweek reaches the weekend price on Thursday and Friday.
  3. Line-ups. Starting line-ups arrive shortly before kick-off. That is when limits are highest and the closing line forms.

How much do Bundesliga odds move before kick-off?

Late. We took the eight Bundesliga matches played on 31 October and 1 November 2026 from SteamWatch's public archive of Pinnacle 1X2 prices and removed the margin with the power method. We split each match into four windows (opener to 24 hours out, 24 to 6 hours, 6 to 1 hour, last hour) and added up the movement in each. 66% of the Bundesliga's movement came in the last 24 hours, close to the Premier League (64%) and the Championship (65%), and well above Serie A (47%), Ligue 1 (47%) and La Liga (49%) over the same weekend. The method and the full 49-match sample are in why odds change before kick-off.

Eintracht Frankfurt v Hamburger SVEintracht Frankfurt1.60 → 1.5160.4% → 65.4% (+5.0 pts)6.82% → 2.62%

What the data shows:

  • The biggest move was a late one. Bremen v Hoffenheim moved most in the sample, and about three-quarters of that movement (8.3 of 11.1 points, measured across all three outcomes) came in the final 24 hours. On Augsburg v Freiburg, almost all of it did (5.3 of 5.9 points).
  • The last hour was quiet. The median last-hour move in the Bundesliga was 0.99 points of fair probability, against 2.16 in La Liga and 1.47 in the Premier League. The movement came on the day before and the morning of the match, not in the final minutes.
  • The margin finished low. The eight closing 1X2 margins sat between 2.47% and 2.90%, median 2.57%. The openers were at 6.03–7.76%.
  • Big favourites barely moved. Bayern v Dortmund (Bayern 1.32 → 1.35) and Schalke v RB Leipzig moved 1.2–1.6 points in total. Most of the raw change on those prices was margin.

One round of eight matches proves little on its own. Treat the 66% as a working hypothesis and re-test it on the next rounds before you plan your week around it.

What the table shows:

  • Frankfurt moved within an hour of the opener. The largest single step came at 21:06 UTC on 25 October, 32 minutes after the price appeared: Frankfurt from 2.50 to 2.35 and Paderborn from 2.56 to 2.71. Frankfurt kept shortening during the week. We do not know the reason; SteamWatch shows the price, not the money behind it.
  • Stuttgart and Hoffenheim drifted as home favourites. Stuttgart went from 1.42 to 1.58 (fair probability 68.4% → 62.2%) and Hoffenheim from 1.47 to 1.65 (65.9% → 59.3%). Stuttgart's largest single step came late on Saturday 31 October, Hoffenheim's on the morning after the opener.
  • A raw drift can hide a fair-price drop. Köln's price lengthened from 4.05 to 4.16, which looks like a 2.7% drift. With the margin removed, its fair price shortened from 4.456 to 4.368: the market rates Köln slightly higher than at the opener, not lower. Leverkusen's 1.72 → 1.78 looks like a 3.5% drift; in fair terms it is 0.9 points.

Data check: across all 777 snapshots per match, the three 1X2 implied probabilities summed to between 103.0% and 107.8%. No snapshot had to be discarded. If a tracker ever shows a Bundesliga 1X2 summing to 120% or more, treat it as a feed error rather than a drop.

Which Bundesliga market moves most?

Bundesliga totals sit high, so the goals market often carries the move. The main total on the nine 6–8 November matches ranged from 3.0 to 4.0 goals (Mainz v Bayern at 4.0). Examples from the same snapshot:

MatchMarketOpen → nowFair probability change
SC Freiburg v Union BerlinTotal 3.0, under1.94 → 1.83+4.6 pts (over 1.85 → 2.08)
Hamburger SV v MönchengladbachTotal 3.0, under1.91 → 1.81+4.0 pts (over 1.89 → 2.09)
VfB Stuttgart v Werder BremenAsian handicap, Stuttgart −1.251.85 → 2.16−6.7 pts
TSG Hoffenheim v Schalke 04Asian handicap, Hoffenheim−1.25 at 1.98 → −1.0 at 2.08line moved; not comparable
FSV Mainz 05 v Bayern MunichAsian handicap, Mainz+1.5 at 1.89 → +1.25 at 2.09line moved; not comparable

Read the total when the 1X2 is quiet. Freiburg's 1X2 price moved only from 1.49 to 1.56, but the under 3.0 goals shortened from 1.94 to 1.83. The market's view of how many goals there will be changed more than its view of who wins. Totals on whole lines like 3.0 can push; how that changes the price is in over/under dropping odds.

Favourites: read the handicap with the 1X2. Stuttgart's 1X2 fair probability fell 6.2 points and its −1.25 handicap fell 6.7 points: the market thinks Stuttgart are less likely to win and less likely to win big. When both markets move together, the move is about the match, not one market.

When the line changes, the price does not compare. On Hoffenheim v Schalke, the handicap moved from Hoffenheim −1.25 to −1.0, and the total from 3.5 to 3.25. On Mainz v Bayern, Mainz went from +1.5 to +1.25: Bayern are now expected to win by less. A price on −1.0 cannot be compared with a price on −1.25; read the line change itself as the move. Quarter lines are explained in Asian handicap explained.

How do you check your bookmaker against a Bundesliga drop?

Ask one question: is your price above Pinnacle's fair price now? Whether it beat the old opener does not matter.

Worked example with the current Paderborn v Frankfurt prices (3.11 / 3.94 / 2.20). Frankfurt's fair price is about 2.25. Two illustrative bookmaker prices, not quotes from a real bookmaker:

Your bookmaker's price on FrankfurtExpected value against fair 2.25
2.35about +4.4% (2.35 ÷ 2.25 − 1)
2.15about −4.4%

If your bookmaker shows 2.25 or less, the Frankfurt move has already reached it and there is no edge left at that price. And because two-thirds of last weekend's Bundesliga movement came in the final 24 hours, for a Saturday 15:30 kick-off the prices worth checking most often are those from Friday afternoon onwards. To check a price yourself: strip the margin with the devig calculator, compare with the EV calculator, size the move with the odds drop calculator, and after the match score the bet against the closing fair price in the CLV calculator. For how one large bookmaker trails Pinnacle, see bet365 dropping odds; for where to set an alert, see dropping odds alert threshold.

What about live Bundesliga drops?

Once the match starts, most price changes are mechanical. With a main total of 3.0 to 4.0 goals, every scoreless minute pushes the under shorter, and each goal re-prices the whole board at once; neither needs any money behind it. Pinnacle Terminal's in-play view is football only: live drops appear as Pinnacle makes them, with filters for the score, a goal just scored and the minutes after it, and they carry no 0–10 grade, which is reserved for pre-match moves. To separate time decay from a real live move, see in-play odds movement.

How Pinnacle Terminal handles Bundesliga moves

Bundesliga moves bunch up on Friday and matchday morning, often while Premier League and LaLiga prices are moving too, so the problem is attention rather than access. Pinnacle Terminal reads Pinnacle's feed over a WebSocket and shows each price next to Pinnacle's maximum market limit. Each pre-match move on a Bundesliga match result, handicap or total gets a 0–10 grade and a label: Big move (the price falls and Pinnacle takes the market down), Sharp drop (a fall of about 20% or more from the recent high), Limit-backed (the price falls while Pinnacle lifts the limit), Rebound (back towards the opener), Downtrend or Standard. A drop is measured over 2 minutes by default; you can widen or narrow that window. Your own Telegram bot sends the alerts you configure, with the fair price on each message (Power devig by default), and a rule can be restricted to the leagues your bookmaker lists. There is no stored odds history in the terminal; that is why this page uses a public archive for the open-to-close numbers. The full feature list is on Pinnacle dropping odds.

FAQ

What are Bundesliga dropping odds?

Prices on German Bundesliga matches that have shortened since an earlier point, usually the opening line. On 2 November 2026, Pinnacle's price on Eintracht Frankfurt away at Paderborn (7 November) had fallen from 2.46 at the opener to 2.20.

When do Bundesliga odds come out?

About 12 to 14 days before kick-off at Pinnacle, based on a public tracker. All nine matches of the 6–8 November 2026 round first appeared at 20:34 UTC on 25 October.

What is the margin on Bundesliga odds at Pinnacle?

It depends on the time to kick-off. The 6–8 November 1X2 markets opened at 6.07–7.28%, sat at about 5–6.5% for a week and were at 2.99–4.06% on 2 November. Last weekend's eight matches closed at 2.47–2.90%.

Do Bundesliga odds move more early or late?

Late. In our 31 October–1 November sample, 66% of the Bundesliga's pre-match movement (margin removed) came in the last 24 hours, against 47% in Serie A and Ligue 1. The last hour itself was quiet, with a median move of 0.99 points.

Why do Bundesliga odds drift on a Monday with no news?

Often it is the margin, not the market. On 2 November 2026, all nine 1X2 markets of the next round had their margin cut from about 5–6.5% to 3.0–4.1%. In the single 05:23 UTC snapshot that carried most of the cut, 26 of the 27 prices lengthened. Strip the margin before reading any Monday move.

Can I get Bundesliga dropping odds alerts on Telegram?

Yes. In Pinnacle Terminal you set the rule (league, market, size of drop) and your own Telegram bot sends every pre-match Bundesliga move that matches it, with its 0–10 grade. Live football drops are shown in the terminal as well, filtered but without a grade.
